WE MUST PROTECT

Our Natural Resources & Environment

These two beautiful, bald eagles are great examples of the need for Hood County to protect its natural resources and natural habitat. We do not need industry, companies or technologies that will scar our landscape, pollute and plunder our natural resources and destroy wildlife habitat. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great country giving honor and recognition to our founders, let’s stand firm, as they did, against tyranny and anything that seeks to harm our land and liberty. May God continue to bless the United States, the great state of Texas and the number one county in Texas, Hood!

INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

Must Be Responsibly Managed

Ron opposes data centers and any company, industry, or technology that does not benefit the safety and well being of Hood County citizens. We must protect our natural resources and the highest quality of life possible in Hood County now and for future generations.

Original Texans, longtime Texans, and new Texans share a solemn commitment to Keep Texas Great by preserving our history, our quality of life, and our natural resources. Texas is like no other state in the Union. Hood County is unique among all other Texas counties. That’s why we choose to make our homes and raise our families in Hood County, along the banks of the historic Brazos River.

Hood County citizens are smart and strong. We have the vision and willpower to say NO to industrial development that harms our environment, depletes our natural resources, scars our beautiful landscape, and has a permanent negative impact on the quality of life of Hood County citizens.

Please see Texas Local Government Code Chapter 231.221, Subchapter K, for more information on how to
KEEP HOOD COUNTY GREAT!

AN EXPLANATION OF

Subchapter K Protections for Hood County

We are all so blessed to live in Hood County, where natural resources are abundant. We have clear skies, clean air, good water and many more. All these God-given blessings cannot be taken for granted. We must protect them to keep Hood County a special place to live for us and those who follow. Hood County is so special that even the Texas legislature recognizes Hood County as unique among Texas counties.  Please see Texas Local Government Code Chapter 231.221, Subchapter K, which was created especially for Hood County.

Sec. 231.221. Legislative Findings; Purpose.
(a) The legislature finds that:
     (1) All of Hood County is located within the watershed that drains into Lake Granbury and the Brazos River;
     (2) The area that surrounds Lake Granbury and the Brazos River in Hood County is or will be frequented for recreational purposes by
             residents from every part of the state;
     (3) Orderly development of the area and the watershed is of concern to the entire state;
      (4) And without adequate development regulations, the area and the watershed will be developed in ways that endanger and interfere                 with the proper use of that area as a place of recreation to the detriment of the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare.
(b) The powers granted under this subchapter are for the purpose of:
     (1) Promoting the public health, safety, peace, morals, and general welfare;
     (2) Encouraging recreation; and
     (3) Safeguarding and preventing the pollution of the state’s rivers and lakes.

Added by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch.1227, Sec. 1, eff. June 18, 1999.

Subchapter K should be known as Subchapter "Special K" because it is Special K exclusively for Hood County. We need to utilize every aspect of Special K to safeguard Hood County from big money corporations that care more about profit than people and quality of life.

These corporations are more concerned about making money for their investors (domestic and foreign) than depleting and polluting our natural resources. More growth is coming, which must be responsibly managed. Subchapter Special K is one of many tools at our disposal to do just that effectively.

It’s our responsibility, all citizens, to preserve our beautiful county as it was passed on to us or even better.
