REPUBLICAN

CANDIDATE FORUM

I appreciated everyone who came out to the Hood County Candidate Forum on January 15. These forums are important—not just for the candidates, but for the voters who care deeply about the future of our county.

The forum reinforced something I’ve believed for a long time: being an effective County Judge requires deep knowledge, foresight, and a clear understanding of how the levers of government work here in the great state of Texas. In times of emergency—fires, floods, or severe weather—it means knowing whom to call, how decisions are made, and how to move the system effectively, especially when time, money, or public safety are on the line.

Outside of emergencies, however, the job requires a different discipline: listening carefully, asking questions, understanding the details and history of an issue, and weighing long-term consequences before acting. Most decisions a County Judge makes fall into this second category, and they require patience, collaboration, and a steady temperament.

A County Judge must lead with calm, respect, and consistency. Citizens should feel heard—not intimidated. Disagreements should be handled thoughtfully, not personally. And decisions should always be guided by what’s best for Hood County in the long term.

That is the kind of leadership I am committed to providing—measured, informed, and focused on protecting our people, our resources, and our future.

Thank you again to everyone who participated and engaged in the process. I’m honored to be part of this conversation and to continue earning your trust.
